Ways You Can Help

Scout volunteer.jpg

We need everyone's participation to make the best possible Scouting experience for our boys! Please volunteer to help out in any way you can. Are you a good organizer? Do you like teaching? Do you have special skills you can share?

Here are some things that are needed:

Troop Communications

Issue meeting announcements, publicize events, keep everyone "in the loop."

Wednesday Meetings

  • Set up the Old Stone House space
  • Bring supplies or snacks
  • Clean up after meetings
  • Lead a half-hour activity such as a craft project
  • Help lead a 15-minute Scout skills activity

One way to organize this might be to have 3-4 volunteers, one for the first Wednesday of the month, another for the second Wednesday, etc. That way each person runs just one meeting a month.

Camping Trips and Outings

  • Trip coordinator - keep track of bus seats, make site reservations, general organizing
  • Food shopping for trips - list will be provided
  • "Quartermaster" - keep track of troop gear, make sure it is checked in and out and returned in good condition
  • Help with camping skills training on trips
  • Plan or lead activities such as hikes, scavenger hunts, fishing, nature activites
  • Driving

Blue & Gold Dinner

The Blue & Gold Dinner is an annual fundraising and community event. Typically there are invited guests such as political figures and community leaders, a guest of honor or speaker, and Scouting award presentations.

  • Program
  • Sell ad space in program/sponsorships
  • Raffle coordinator
  • Entertainment: Scouts perform or demonstrate skills
  • Guest list

Christmas Tree Sale

  • Manage schedule of volunteers
  • Volunteer to sell trees
